If you're thinking about welcoming 2012 with some fireworks, you might want to reconsider.
Strong, gusty winds and low humidity levels are combining to create high fire danger for several Oklahoma counties. A fire weather watch is in effect through Saturday afternoon in Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Craig, Nowata, Ottawa and Creek counties.
A wind advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. for several counties including Alfalfa County, Beckham County, Custer County, Dewey County, and Ellis County.
Motorists should be aware that strong wind gusts – especially cross winds on bridges and overpasses – may cause difficulties.
