Police arrested the mother of a 14-month-old child who was rushed to the hospital with a critical brain injury Saturday morning.
Kelli Monthaven, 20, was arrested Saturday night after undergoing an interview with police. According to the police report, Monthaven's son was rushed to the hospital by his biological father after he picked him up for his visitation. The child was lethargic and throwing up.
Doctors say the child suffered a brain injury and the child is currently listed in critical condition.
The father reported he was cleaning up the child after he had thrown up and had him on the kitchen counter. The boy started sliding down as he went to pick him up, but the father told police the child did not hit his head during the incident.
The father noticed his son's breathing became labored and his eyes were rolling back in his head, so he rushed him to Mercy Hospital.
Monthaven claimed the boy was fine until he started throwing up on Thursday night. She said he was fine on Friday morning, so she took him to daycare and where she says he was fine all day. However she claims he started throwing up again on Saturday morning.
Monthaven was going to stay home from work, but the boy's father said he would take care of him. Police interviewed both parents, but arrested mom.
Monthaven is out on a $10,000 bond. She has not yet been formally charged.
