Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested a Ponca City man on a complaint of first-degree murder after a body was found in an abandoned trailer south of Ponca City.
Agents took Jared James Bales, 32, into custody Monday.
The Kay County Sheriff's Office requested the OSBI's assistance with a homicide investigation Monday, after the body was discovered in the trailer off of 2800 South River Road.
The OSBI said the body had been there for several weeks.
The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office will perform an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death. Meanwhile, doctors will have to make a positive identification of the victim.
OSBI agents spent Monday processing the crime scene and running leads, which lead to Bales' arrest.
According to court records, Bales served time for several counts including auto theft and robbery with a firearm. He was last discharged, according to the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, in 2007. He was charged in May of this year with possession of a firearm after conviction or during probation and knowingly concealing stolen property.
Charges have not yet been filed in this case.
