A Norman man was killed after being shot on Monday, but not before he crashed his van through a gate in Pottawatomie County, and told a homeowner what had happened to him.

Deputies in both Cleveland and Pottawatomie counties are looking for clues. Both deputies and members of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are looking for evidence along New Hope Road to determine what exactly happened.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Albert Rider out of Norman.

The sheriff says they got a 911 call from that homeowner after Rider crashed through his gate and drove up to the house to say he'd been shot, and that his house had been broken into.

Rider was rushed to a hospital in Oklahoma City where he has since passed away.

Now investigators are dealing with three crime scenes. One is where the crash happened, the other is at Riders' home in Norman, where Cleveland county deputies are searching for evidence of the break in, and then the third is about a mile down the road where the sheriff says Rider may have been shot.

The undersheriff says Rider may have been looking for the person or persons responsible for the break in at his home.

Deputies plan to have a portion of New Hope Road blocked off while they continue to investigate.

Cleveland county deputies did get a search warrant to go through Rider's home. So far, no persons of interest have been named, and no arrests have been made.
