Authorities Identify OKC Police Recruit Who Died At Training Academy

According to Captain Dexter Nelson with the Oklahoma City police, Kelley Chase, 38, was participating in Custody Control and Defensive Tactics Training (CDT,) when he fell and received a head injury.

Authorities have released the identity of an Oklahoma City police recruit who died from a head injury sustained at the training academy.

According to Captain Dexter Nelson with the Oklahoma City police, Kelley Chase, 38, was participating in Custody Control and Defensive Tactics Training (CDT) on Friday, when he fell and received a head injury.

Chase was then transported to Mercy Hospital and placed in ICU. He died Saturday.

Capt. Nelson said authorities delayed releasing the identity pending notification of Chase's family members.

Chase had spent 20 years in the military before entering the police academy.
