Firefighters have contained a large fire at a vacant apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City.
The fire started around 11 a.m. at 7400 N.W. 10th Street, between Rockwell and Council. Crews fought the fire defensively and stayed out of the burning building. The fire is mainly out, and firefighters are now putting out hot spots.
Bob Mills SkyNews 9 HD flew over the fire. Pilot Jim Gardner said at one point, heavy smoke and flames were shooting from the roof. Traffic was affected in the area because of the smoke, and drivers slowing down to look at the scene.
According to Chief Marc Woodard with the Oklahoma City Fire Department, there have previously been several fires at the abandoned complex. No one is living there, and fire crews say no on was hurt.
It's not known yet how the fire started.
