Felony charges have been filed against the former business manager of an Edmond Church who is accused of embezzlement.

Bill Dwight Coyle, 62, is accused of embezzling $109,454 from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. He was a business manager at the church, according to police.

On Monday, the Oklahoma County District Attorney's office filed eight counts of Computer Crimes Act violations against Coyle.

The original embezzlement complaint was made to the Edmond Police Department in July. Edmond police said they worked with the white collar crimes division of the DA's office, and are filing eight felony charges instead of multiple misdemeanor charges of embezzlement.

According to Edmond police, Coyle had agreed to make restitution to the church for an unspecified amount before the audit was completed. The audit revealed an amount of embezzled funds that is considerably more than what was originally known to be missing.

Coyle is no longer employed by the church, police said.
