Deputies in Laredo, Texas, arrested a man wanted in Oklahoma as he tried to cross the border into Mexico.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says Edgar Borjas tried to run over a Major County Sheriff's deputy on February 7. Borjas allegedly tried to kick in the door of a farmhouse, and the resident's girlfriend called 911. Deputies arrested Borjas, but while still handcuffed, he managed to steal the deputy's SUV and allegedly tried to run over the deputy.

Borjas was shot twice as he drove away. He wrecked the SUV and was rushed to OU Medical Center. He was mistakenly discharged from the hospital before he could be taken into custody.

Borjas managed to make his way to Texas. Webb County Sheriff's deputies caught him Thursday in Laredo as he was trying to cross the border into Mexico.

Borjas signed an extradition order and will be extradited back to Oklahoma.
