The battle lines were quickly drawn when I posted online a simple frustration I have when I'm behind the wheel.
I said "It's annoying when people pull up to a traffic light and stay in the right lane, even though they aren't turning right, and the left lane sits completely empty."
Nobody behind them can turn right on red.
I didn't expect what happened next.. people on both sides piled on.
Some couldn't have agreed more, while others said I was an impatient jerk headed for a heart attack.
It brought me to this question, when it comes to our driving habits... is the bigger problem that are we MORE impatient behind the wheel these days OR are we LESS concerned about being courteous to other drivers?
Certainly there are more distractions in the car and drivers who are so are lost in their phone or music... they go ahead and block a driveway near an intersection rather than leave room for the guy waiting to pull out onto the street.
A lot of people haven't even thought about clearing the "right turn on red" lane, when possible, so the people behind them can actually turn right on red.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest I will admit, I've pondered what some of you said and it's true.
Although I don't honk or tailgate, I do get impatient , and I'm working on it.
