The Southwestern Oklahoma State University baseball team secured its second consecutive Great American Conference series victory with an 11-0 Sunday shutout over Southern Nazarene.

The Bulldogs jumped on top of SNU early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and three in the bottom of the second. Chris Faulkner and Tyler Rapp had RBI hits in the first inning and Faulkner came back with a two-run double in the second.

SWOSU was held without a run just once in the game, the bottom of the third inning, but they came back to add on six more in the final three innings. Rapp added an RBI single in the fourth inning and Faulkner added to his total with a two-run single in the fifth. An RBI double by Kevin Cantrell gave SWOSU its final run in the sixth inning.

For the game, eight of the nine hitters in the order recorded a hit, with five players recording a multi-hit game. Leading the way was Faulkner, who finished 4-for-5 with five RBI, while Cantrell and Rapp each added three hits apiece as the SWOSU offense pounded out 17 hits, one shy of the season high.

Shane Martin was strong from the hill for SWOSU, tossing a four-hit shutout while striking out five batters and walking just one. Martin picked up the win and improves to 3-1 with the win.

With the victory, SWOSU improves to 9-7 on the year and 4-5 in GAC play. The team will be back in action at home on Tuesday, hosting Oklahoma Science & Arts for a single game starting at 2 p.m.
