The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels staged a huge rally in the second game of a doubleheader, but couldn't get over the hump and fell 11-10 to the Dakota State University Trojans Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 6) at Jack Allen Field. The Lady Evangels fell 8-4 in the opener.

MACU trailed 11-7 heading into the bottom of the seventh, but plated three runs and had the tying run at third with two out, but a groundout ended the game. Kaylee Hendon and Jackie Hilterbran each drove in a run in the seventh without the ball leaving the infield.

It was a 10-4 deficit when Hilterbran hit her first career home run, a three-run shot that that cut the Trojan lead in half in the bottom of the sixth.

The Lady Evangels jumped on top 4-1 but fell behind as the Trojans scored two in the third, three in the fourth and broke it open with a four-run fifth inning. Bretton Lien tripled with one out in the fifth and then scored on an error. Katie Silbowski and Renaye Gamson also had RBI doubles in the inning.

Hilterbran powered the Lady Evangels with five RBI on three hits and scored twice. Randi Gilmartin and Tiffany Holt each drove in a pair of runs.

Elizabeth Rubalcava with 3-of-5 with three RBI for the Trojans.

MACU also jumped out on top in the first game with a three-run first inning, only to have the Trojans take the lead with four runs in the second and then pull away with three more in the third. Chelsey John fueled the Trojans' attack by going 2-of-3 with a bases-clearing triple.

The Lady Evangels will remain at home and host No. 4-Oklahoma City University tomorrow afternoon (Mar. 7) at noon. OCU won the first two games of the series yesterday (Mar. 5) at OCU.
