Police say a man trying to steal copper from an OG&E substation became trapped in a manhole when he tried to outrun officers.

Officers were called to N.W. 10th Street and Morgan Road early Wednesday morning. They found a man they say was trying to steal copper.

The suspect began running and an officer chased him. Somehow, the suspect ended up in a manhole and could not get out.

Firefighters were called to dig out the suspect. He was then taken into police custody. Police said the suspect had five warrants out for his arrest; three of them were felony warrants from separate counties. The suspect's name has not been released.

The officer involved in the chase was taken to a hospital because he injured his knee while pursuing the suspect.
