Some metro nursing home employees deserve a big ‘thank you', after likely saving a man's life Thursday morning.
The man had driven his pickup truck off SW 86th St. and into a large drainage ditch sometime late Wednesday night. The ditch runs next to Grace Living Nursing Home.
Around 7 a.m. Thursday, a construction worker alerted Grace Living Housekeeping Supervisor Patrick Price that there was a truck in the ditch. Price told other employees, who called 911 and then stayed with the man until firefighters and EMSA arrived.
Ashley Hayden is a nurse at the nursing home.
"He was just a mess," she said. "There was blood everywhere and he was stuck."
Price says the man was hysterical and in a lot of pain.
"I feel good about saving someone's life," he said.
EMSA took the man to a nearby hospital, where they say he is in serious condition. His family has asked for their privacy.
