Police are on the scene of a homicide in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in northwest Oklahoma City, Wednesday night.
Oklahoma City Police were called to the Taco Mayo located at 2915 N. Classen, just before 8 p.m. to conduct a welfare check.
Upon arrival officers located a deceased male inside a white Humvee sports utility vehicle. Police say the victim had severe trauma to the body, but would not elaborate on the cause of death. The victim's identity has not been released.
Witnesses at the scene told police a black male, believed to be a person of interest, left the scene heading northeast.
No other information is known at this time.
Taco Mayo Chairman CEO Randy Earhart released the follwoing statement regarding this incident:
"The unfortunate incident that occurred outside of our Classen Blvd Taco Mayo restaurant had nothing to do with any Taco Mayo employees or personnel. We have been at that location for 35 years, since 1978, without incident. "
"We are simply standing back and letting the police perform their investigation and have every intent of re opening to the public tomorrow. We thank all of our customers and our loyal employees for bearing with us while we get back to normal tomorrow."
