OKC Police Arrest Man After Body Found Outside Fast Food Restaurant

A 19-year-old man is in custody Thursday morning after police found a body inside a car in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in northwest Oklahoma City.

A 19-year-old man is in custody Thursday morning after police found a body inside a car in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant in northwest Oklahoma City.

Wednesday night, police were called to the Taco Mayo in the 2900 block of N. Classen just south of N.W. 30th Street to conduct a welfare check. Police found a body inside a vehicle. The victim had trauma to his body consistent with homicide.

The victim's name has not been released, and the State Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Witnesses told police they saw a man running from the scene. Police located the suspect, 19-year-old Shelton Adkins, at a nearby convenience store. He was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County jail for first-degree murder.

Police are still investigating what led up to the homicide.
