Former PA announcer for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Jim Miller, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for lewd acts against children Monday.
Miller spoke exclusively to News 9's Michael Konopasek after being sentenced. The man of Thunder fame is guilty of forcing three children to watch him masturbate while he watched porn.
Miller is convicted on three cases from Oklahoma, Pontotoc and Garvin Counties. All cases included the same three victims, all under the age of 16. After the hearing Monday, Miller said he was sorry for his actions.
For four NBA seasons, it was Miller's voice fans heard at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. He was a trusted leader not only with the Thunder but as a teacher and tennis coach at Harrah High School.
"I hate that I spit in the face of my ministry, relationships," Miller said. "Having great positions that the Lord put in my life ... And was not able to overcome certain things."
Miller originally claimed that the allegations of pleasuring himself in front of children were misunderstandings, but prosecutors in three counties proved otherwise.
"I've hurt the people I love in the world the most, so that will stick with me for a long time," said Miller.
In 2024, Miller is scheduled to start a probation period, which will last 19 years.
Miller apologized to the Thunder Monday, saying he was sorry for the "distraction and his failure."
