Two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers wounded in a gun battle early Saturday morning in Del City, are recovering from their injuries.

According to the OHP, Trooper Ryan Smith, an eight year veteran with the Patrol, suffered a facial wound. He is said to be in stable condition and expected to remain in an Oklahoma City area hospital for at least two more days.
Trooper Chris Bunch, a one year veteran with the Patrol, sustained a leg wound and has been released from the hospital to recover at his home.
According to an OHP spokesman, the suspect led the deputies on a pursuit on I-35. It ended when the suspect got off I-40 at the Sunnylane Rd. exit.
Authorities have not said why the chase began in the first place.
The suspect was shot and killed outside a vacant house. The two troopers chasing him were also hit when the suspect opened fire.
Authorities have not identified the suspect at this time.
