A controlled burn near Lake Stanley Draper has prompted a bit of concern from local residents and fire departments in southeast Oklahoma City, Wednesday afternoon.

The prescribed burn was requested by the City of Oklahoma City Utilities Department. The large plumes of smoke in the area and the high winds garnered the attention of locals in the area.

The Oklahoma Forestry Services is conducting the burn on approximately 270 acres of land between SE 109th St. and Water Plant Rd., along the lakeside of West Lake Stanley Draper Dr. It will take about 10 hours to complete.
