The improv comedy troupe, Red Dirt Improv, will begin their summer performance series Saturday night. The first performance takes place at 7 p.m. on April 19 at The Red Room Event Center, located at 114 W. Main Street.

Formed in 2007, the Red Dirt Improv troupe members have performed in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Austin and other locations around the country, although the members have been performing in Norman and Oklahoma City for over 10 years. Red Dirt Improv also hosts the annual Improv Festival Oklahoma, which attracts troupes and instructors from across the United States.

During the first half of the show, the troupe will perform short-form games, similar to those seen on the TV show, "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" After a brief intermission, the troupe will take suggestions from the audience, someone in the troupe will tell a true story about that suggestion and then they will act out a series of scenes inspired by the story. Since there are no scripts involved, the troupe says each show is one-of-a-kind.

Other than the April 19 show, the troupe's schedule includes performances on May 17, June 14, July 19, July 26 and the sixth annual Improv Festival Oklahoma on August 1-3.
