He may not have been Monday night's leading scorer, but he is the most important piece of the Thunder. And on Tuesday, Kevin Durant could receive quite an honor.
Several news outlets, including ESPN, are reporting that on Tuesday, Kevin Durant will be named the Most Valuable Player by the NBA.
If he does in fact receive that honor, it will be Durant's first of what will likely become many MVP awards since entering the NBA in 2007.
The five-time, All-Star selection has averaged 32 points and more than seven rebounds per game for the Thunder this season, carrying the team through long stretches when Russell Westbrook had to sit out because of his knee.
Four-time and current-reigning MVP LeBron James from the Miami Heat said he believes Durant deserves the award for his play this season.
We'll keep monitoring it, and once the announcement comes down, we'll bring it to you.
