A police standoff in an El Reno neighborhood ended peacefully with the arrest of one suspect on Memorial Day.
According to El Reno police, at about 1:52 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a report of shots fired at a home in the 300 block of S. Moore Avenue. A woman told police her husband, Edgar Gudino-Lopez, had shot a gun in her brother-in-law's bedroom.
The woman said her brother-in-law and her four children were inside the home. She said Lopez began arguing with her and then turned his anger toward her brother-in-law when she asked him for help.
The woman told police she saw the muzzle flash and heard a gunshot. She believed Lopez had shot her brother-in-law as she was leaving the house to call 911.
The Canadian County Special Operations Team responded to the scene to assist the officers. After about an hour, negotiators were able to convince Lopez to come out of the home.
Lopez was then arrested and taken to the El Reno Police Department Jail on charges of reckless endangerment and five counts of kidnapping with bail set at $126,000.
No one was injured during the incident. Officers said they found three firearms inside the house, one of which was chamber loaded.
During the standoff, police said several neighbors were evacuated as a precaution.
