Former Bethany Police Detective Reinstated With Department

Multiple sources tell News 9 that Bethany police detective Austin Warfield has been reinstated with the Bethany Police Department.

In January, Warfield was let go following an internal investigation. The detective was dismissed four months after the firing of Capt. Jack Jencks. Both detectives were assigned to the unsolved murder of Carina Saunders, 19.

Jencks was let go after evidence was found missing from the Bethany's property room in February. Jencks was reinstated with full back pay on Monday.

News 9 reached out to Bethany Police Chief Phil Cole, but he declined to comment on the officers' status.
