Agents with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics arrested a man accused of human trafficking involving a 14-year-old girl. Agents said they found the girl's online sex ads and tracked her down on Friday.
William Johnson is in the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of human trafficking, child prostitution and pandering.
Anti-trafficking activist Brian Bates told News 9 it is not uncommon to see a human trafficking victim that young in Oklahoma City.
"An awful lot of the girls that we come in contact with on Robinson will admit that they're very first experience with being prostituted by somebody else was around the age of 12, 13, or 13 years old," Bates said.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the 14-year-old girl who Johnson is accused of pimping out posted online sex ads, stating she was 20. Undercover agents set up a meeting with her at the Days Inn motel at I-44 and May and arrested her.
The affidavit said the girl told agents someone was watching her dog outside the room for her. When they went to investigate, agents said they found her pimp, William Johnson, dog-sitting for her right by the motel.
Agents said Johnson had a key to the girl's room, so they called her family. They said the girl's grandmother confirmed the child was a runaway and agents determined Johnson was prostituting her.
"Pimps are predators, they are really good about knowing what areas to go find young ladies who have run away or young boys who have run away," Bates explained.
Agents said they also found numerous sex items used in prostitution and sex trafficking.
"Since she is under the age of consent, he's going to be pursued on the human trafficking angle - that's a very hard charge to get out of," Bates added.
Johnson is currently being held on OBN's three complaints and there is a hold on him for a case out of Midwest City.
