Next Friday marks a milestone, for an Oklahoma family, that no family would want.
Glenda Peterson was 40 years old when she disappeared after a Fourth of July celebration at Lake Thunderbird, 17 years ago.
Family members say Peterson was last seen riding in a dark pickup truck on Highway 9 with a strange man who wore a dark mustache.
Brandy Morton is Glenda Peterson's niece and has spearheaded a social media campaign that has turned up several recent leads on Facebook.
"Somebody knows what happened," said Morton. "We just need a little piece of information that brings everything together."
This Saturday, there will be a balloon launch to remember Glenda Peterson. It begins around noon at Andrews Park in Norman.
Norman police confirm they opened a cold case into Peterson's disappearance several months ago.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Clay Bolin at 405-217-7774.
