One suspect is in custody after a carjacking in southwest Oklahoma City, Wednesday afternoon.
According to police, the suspect was driving on Interstate 44 when he got involved in an accident with another vehicle.
Both the suspect and the other driver got out and the suspect claimed he had children in his car that were injured. When the other driver came to help, the suspect ran to that driver’s car and took off.
A witness nearby followed the carjacker, but when the carjacker noticed he was being followed he ran that witness off the highway. Shortly after that the carjacker lost control of the vehicle and crashed near the SW 59th St. off ramp.
Police say the suspect struggled with them a bit, but they were finally able to get him under control and into custody. His identity has not been released at this time.
Police did not say if any of the victims in this incident were injured.
