Heath Kufahl says his wife, Jenni, lived a life full of purpose and faith until the very end.

The Kufahls made national headlines in 2013 after Heath sank a half-court shot at a OKC Thunder basketball game. He pledged all of the $20,000 he won to his wife’s battle against a rare form of appendix cancer.

Jenni, 39, passed Sunday after a two year fight against the illness.

“It wasn’t despair and despondence,” said Heath about his late wife’s attitude during the battle.

The Kufahls tried alternative treatments after Jenni’s cancer returned in late 2013 and was eventually called “inoperable.”

“One of her goals when she stood before Christ, she wanted him to say “well done” and I have no doubt that those words were said Sunday. She went home,” says Heath.

The Kufahls have seven children. The family has set up a college scholarship fund for the children. You can make a donation at any BancFirst in care of “Kufahl Children’s College Fund.”

Jenni’s service will be held Thursday at 1pm at Southern Hills Baptist Church at 8601 S. Pennsylvania Ave in Oklahoma City.
