Thieves Steal Boat From OKC Driveway In Broad Daylight

Brazen burglars stole a boat from an Oklahoma City home in broad daylight, but an alert neighbor recorded them in the act.

Mark Locke said he cannot believe what happened the afternoon of August 20.

“Devastated, I just couldn't believe it,” said Locke.

He left a 1978 Hawaiian jet boat in his driveway near SW 64th and May while he was at work. He estimated the boat is worth $9,000.

“It's my 4th summer with it. We just put a brand new motor in it,” said Locke.

However, in a matter of minutes last week, two men backed a truck up to the boat, hooked it up to the trailer and towed the boat away at 3 p.m.

“Just don't understand how people can just pull up and pull out with somebody's boat. Somebody that has worked real hard to have something nice and people just come in and take everything you've got,” Locke told News 9.

Locke's neighbor witnessed the theft and grabbed her phone to snap some pictures and record video. She knew something was right about the truck when it pulled up.

“Not in this neighborhood, we usually have a real, pretty quiet neighborhood,” Locke explained.

Oklahoma City Police ran the tags of the 1996 black Chevy tags, but the tags did not match up to that vehicle. That was the only lead investigators had, unless someone recognizes the suspects or the truck.

“If everybody will team up and help get them off the streets, keep them from doing this to someone else, then I'll be satisfied with that,” Locked added.
