According to the officials, firefighters extinguished a residential fire in the 1500 block of McGregor Drive.
David Richardson with the Midwest City Fire Department said residents opened the garage and found it was filled with smoke around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
He said there was ammunition in the house.
“Arriving on scene, officers heard some small popping sounds," said Richardson. "There was some ammunition, a small box of 22s that were going off."
Richardson said there were three dogs inside the home, but one did not survive.
Officials say the fire was contained to the garage, but there is smoke damage throughout the home.
No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Richardson reminds everyone to check all smoke detectors and make sure they are working.
