Oklahoma City police are warning the public about a quick grab scam at convenience stores and gas stations that has swept across the country.
Dottie Gourley was filling up her Toyota SUV Monday morning at a convenience store on 19th and Memorial when she became a victim.
Store surveillance video shows another woman pulled up close to Gourley's SUV in a Chrysler 300.
The video shows the other driver getting out of the Chrysler and opening Gourley's front passenger side door. The thief then grabs Gourley's purse from the front seat before driving away.
Police call these thieves “Sliders,” because of the way they slide from vehicle to vehicle.
Gourley said she never saw it coming.
“Just lock your door when you get out to pump gas,” said Gourley. “Or take your purse with you. That's all you can do.”
A witness to what happened told Gourley the thief was a tall, slender woman with long, blonde hair.
Police said the Oklahoma tag number on the Chrysler 300 was obstructed.
