Energy FC defender Gareth Evans was named to the USL PRO All-League Second Team on Tuesday. First and second team honorees were selected through a vote of team management and selected media.
Evans started in 26 matches this season and led the Energy's defensive corp in the team's inaugural season. He played a team-high 2,353 minutes and earned USL PRO team of the week honors twice (Week 14 and Week 17).
Evans was named the team's vice captain at the start of the season and served as team captain late in the season. Energy FC closed out the season 9-14-5 and 10th in the league standings.
The finalists for Coach of the Year, Defender of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player will be announced on Wednesday, September 24, with the awards being presented at the USL PRO Championship news conference on Friday, September 26 in Sacramento.
