Norman North High School went into lockdown for 45 minutes Monday. A school district spokesperson said it occurred while administrators were questioning an 18-year-old Phillip Colton Jones. Jones is a senior at the school.
A district spokesperson said other students told administrators on Friday Jones had been selling marijuana to classmates.
The district said Jones tried to run away to his vehicle while he was being questioned. Police caught him.
While they searched his vehicle, they said they found pot and a handgun.
Rebekah Wheeler is a sophomore at the school, and said the lockdown was tense. “We hid underneath our desks and our teachers barricaded the doors,” she said.
Phillip Colton Jones has been automatically suspended from school.
