An Oklahoma City man was arrested on 39 counts of sexual abuse, and police said two of the young victims were members of his family.
Daniel Chadwell, 30, was arrested at his job Monday morning and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail.
Authorities accused Chadwell of molesting at least three young victims.
It was the first week of November when a mother went to police saying her 11-year-old daughter, 8-year-old son, and a 14-year-old friend of the family were touched inappropriately by her husband of six years.
“Each count here of the 39 counts total represents one occurrence of this,” said Sgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department (OCPD).
Police said none of them were his children, and it's possible the abuse may have been ongoing for a number of years.
“It's good that this was brought to light,” said Knight. “It's good that the woman reported that her daughter was a victim.”
News 9 spoke with the mother of victims who was not comfortable going on camera at this time, but said when her 11-year-old daughter came to her saying she and her brother were being molested by their stepfather, she immediately confronted him about it and called police.
According to the police report, her daughter told her mother Chadwell had "touched her down there," and as she said this she "put both of her hands on her hips."
The mother said her daughter told her the sexual abuse started several years ago "and had happened again as recently as a few months ago."
News 9 was told at the height of the abuse, the victim's mother was working and going to school full time with sporadic hours. Her husband was home a lot of that time caring for her children.
“She didn't know about it either until her daughter told her, and then she notified police shortly thereafter,” said Knight.
Police said Chadwell is being held at the Oklahoma County Jail without bond.
