The countdown is on for a massive celebration on New Year's Eve in Oklahoma City. Chesapeake Energy and Devon Energy sponsored Opening Night 2015 beginning at 7 p.m. downtown on Dec. 31.
The event will include live music, comedy, magic and a fireworks show to welcome the New Year. Organizers said 75,000 people celebrated at last year's Opening Night.
Before the event begins, the INTEGRIS Finale 5k will take place at 4 p.m. The rest of the festivities will be at Bicentennial Park at 500 Couch Drive that evening at 7 p.m.
Organizers said wristbands for Opening Night will allow those celebrating to attend all venues. Wristbands are $8 in advance or $10 at the event. Kids under five get in for free. Organizers said anyone can buy a wristband at 7-Eleven locations in Oklahoma, metro Homeland stores, MidFirst Bank locations, the Science Museum of Oklahoma and the Arts Council of Oklahoma City.
Officials said Oklahomans have been ringing in the New Year with Opening Night celebrations since 1987.
