Oklahomans are celebrating this Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a number of activities across Oklahoma City.

In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, there will be a silent march from the Freedom Center to the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City.

The MLK Celebration and Parade will start at 2 p.m. at N.W. 7th and Broadway and will make its way south to Sheridan. City officials said the streets should be reopened by 5 p.m. So be prepared for some traffic delays in downtown during that time.

Reporter Evan Anderson will represent News 9 in the parade.

Gospel choirs from local universities will fill the South Lobby of the Crystal Bridge Tropical Conservatory with uplifting, inspirational song from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Choirs from the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City University and the University of Central Oklahoma will celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through traditional and contemporary gospel music.

The concert will take place following the Gardens' service event honoring Dr. King. Entitled “Reading and Weeding,” the activities are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to bring a book for donation and stay to help beautify the Gardens.
