Thursday, an Edmond teen plead guilty in Kingfisher County Court to two felonies related to brutal beating video News 9 received last week.

It showed 17-year-old Tristan Shores and another teen, punching and kicking another 17-year-old inside a house last October.

Several classmates from Cashion High School witnessed the beating, and some even recorded the violence on their cellphones. The victim's mother said they spread it through the school.

The victim suffered an orbital fracture to his left eye.

Tristan Shores plead guilty as an adult to felony kidnapping, and assault and battery. Under the plea deal Shores will serve eight days in the county jail, but he will then be on strict probation for seven years. It includes drug and alcohol screening, and his attorneys said it could include random testing.

If he violates that probation the judge assured Shores he will go to prison for 25 years. Shores was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution.

The victim's mother said she expects Shores, who's been in trouble before for violence, to violate his probation sooner and not later.

“I can't get it out of my head,” she sobbed after the hearing. “We'll see him again I'm sure, with his history.”

Michael Trevino is Shores' attorney. He said his client is very sorry for what he did. And the fact he plead guilty as an adult shows he has taken responsibility for his actions.

“We are trying to make them whole as best we can. We did wrong and we're trying to make it right,” he said.

The victim's mother told News 9 last week he had left the family's home because of the humiliation he's had to put up with.

“He's pretty much shut down right now,” she said.

Trevino added, “As attorney's we think about these as cases, but at the heart of it there's people, and there's a young man here who didn't deserve what happened.”
