An earthquake shook up residents near Cherokee, Okla., in Alfalfa County just before 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
The 3.3 magnitude earthquake struck six miles east northeast of Cherokee, 34 miles northwest of Enid, and 65 miles west of Ponca City at a depth of about five and a half miles.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries associated with this earthquake.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely with quakes at magnitudes 4.0 and higher.
