Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week on Monday following his gutsy performance in leading the Sooners past No. 6 Baylor 44-34. The junior threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 76 yards and another score against the Bears.
Mayfield completed 24-of-34 passes to help OU snap Baylor's 20-game home winning streak. It was the eighth time this year that the two-time walk-on has thrown for at least three touchdowns in a game and the fifth time he's thrown for at least three TDs and run for at least one score.
Mayfield is tied for the nation's lead by accounting for at least four touchdowns seven times this season, and ranks second in pass efficiency rating (183.9), second in passing yards per attempt (10.0), third in completion percentage (70.2) and fifth in passing touchdowns (31).
