A Pottawatomie County family is trying to cope with the loss after a young father and husband was killed in a horrible motorcycle crash over the weekend. The crash was so violent it left the bike in three pieces, according to police.

Charles Burrows Jr., 33, fell in love with his wife, Jamie, when the two were just teenagers. They built their high school romance into a family. All that changed Sunday morning when Burrows lost control of his motorcycle on State Highway 9, driving into this ditch.

Monday, Jamie Burrows struggles to talk with the couple’s 11-year-old son, Charlie, about the tragedy.

“He keeps asking me, ‘Is it real, Mom? Is it real, Mom? Is he gone?’ The only thing I can tell him is 'Yes. He’s not coming back,'” Jamie Burrows said, fighting back tears.

Charles Burrows also leaves behind a 1-year-old son.

“He’s not going to grow up knowing his dad,” Jamie Burrows said. “(The) only thing he’s going to be able to see in the pictures and knowing that his dad did everything he can.”

For this family, the hardest part is just beginning.  The loss of a father and husband so close to the holidays, will forever change the children.

“He helped me play video games,” 11-year old Charlie said, tears streaming down his face. “I showed him how to play Minecraft. And I just wish he was still alive.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family pay for final expenses. Click here if you would like to make a donation.
