We are in the cold and flu season, but did you know some of your holiday activities could hurt your immune system?

We're talking things like shopping, and even your Christmas tree. Here's the bah humbug in your holiday.

Here are a few reasons you may be under the weather, according to Reader's Digest. We eat more sweets this time of year from cookies, to candy and hot chocolate. Doctors say eating large amounts of sugar could hinder our ability to fight off infections.

It's no secret when it's chilly outside we stick indoors. Sitting inside and breathing recycled air could introduce you to germs over and over again not to mention not getting enough sunlight. Doctors say you could take a Vitamin D supplement.

Your Christmas tree could cause you to sneeze up a storm. Some folks could be allergic to evergreens and not know it since they are not exposed to it often. Plus that tree could harbor mold spores.

We tend to shop more this time of year for gifts, but that means handling cash, opening store doors and using germy ATMs. So if you can keep your gloves on when touching handles or shopping carts and bring that hand sanitizer.
