Police arrested one person in connection to Oklahoma City’s first homicide of 2016.
According to OKC police, 19-year-old Kaylin Nicholas Mixon of Del City, was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint in connection to the shooting death of 17-year-old Ra’Shya Tanae Long of Oklahoma City.

Just before 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day, officers responded to the report of an assault with a dangerous weapon at the Penn Plaza apartments, located in the 3900 block of N. Penn. When officers arrived, they found Long lying in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Long was pronounced dead at the scene. Police learned she was attending a party at that apartment complex when shots were fired, and she was fatally hit.
Police located the suspect, Mixon, and arrested him on a complaint of first-degree murder. He's being held at the Oklahoma County Jail without bond.
