Oklahoma guard Buddy Hield was named a first-team All-American by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) on Monday. Hield finished second in the nation in scoring at 25.1 points per game and hit a national best 124 threes this season.
He’s joined by Malcolm Brogdon (Virginia), Denzel Valentine (Michigan State), Brice Johnson (North Carolina) and Ben Simmons (LSU) on the first-team. The second-team consists of Kris Dunn (Providence), Georges Niang (Iowa State), Jakob Poeltl (Utah), Tyler Ulis (Kentucky), and Jarrod Uthoff (Iowa).
Hield’s 2-seed Sooners will face 15-seed California-Bakersfield in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at 3:00 p.m. CT.
