A former Edmond missionary sentenced to 40 years in prison for sexually abusing children at an orphanage in Kenya is appealing his convictions.

Matthew Durham, 21, was originally found guilty on seven counts of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places, and not guilty on eight counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, one count of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, and one count of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places.
The judge later acquitted Durham of counts 11, 13 and 14, because the government failed to establish that Durham engaged in sexual act with the victim alleged in those counts.

On Monday, March 21, Durham’s attorney filed an appeal.
