Teen Struck By Truck, Killed In Pontotoc County

A 13-year-old male was killed late Monday when his homemade go cart was struck by a pickup truck in Byng.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene by Mercy EMS personnel. The 2002 Dodge pickup was driven by 24-year-old Kyle Cox of Byng. Cox was not injured.

Police say that Cox was driving southbound on CR-99 around 9:30 p.m. when the teen drove his go cart into the road. The teen was not wearing a seatbelt.
