Surveillance video shows new details on the people who sprayed pepper spray at a metro IHOP early Sunday morning. The store manager said 30 to 40 people had to be evacuated from the restaurant on NW 50 and Classen.
Police originally thought this was an elaborate dine and dash scheme, but a surveillance camera in the IHOP lobby shows a clear view of the three people who after putting their name on the waiting list sat down to wait for a table.
One of the women had pepper spray around her neck and it appears at the urging of her friend sprays it into the air.
That's when the group took off and according to witnesses got into an early 90's gold suburban.
At this point, the pepper spray was trapped in the air lock. Once another customer walked in, he opened the door to the main restaurant and let the spray in.
Customers started rushing out.
When police arrived on the scene, they said 20 people were still in the parking lot coughing and spitting up saliva.
According to the manager, none were transported to the hospital. After the all clear was given, many of the customers never went back inside to pay their tab. That cost the restaurant an estimated $400.
If you recognize the people in the video call the Oklahoma City Police Department.
