One man is dead after shooting at a deputy's vehicle with an AK-47 Wednesday night in Byng, law enforcement officers told News 9.
Law officers were called about 6:30 p.m. in reference to a possible suicide. A deputy's vehicle was shot at by the armed man.
The shooter, Stephen Godfrey was fatally shot by law enforcement. Godfrey was an ex-police officer in Ada, law enforcement said.
According to police, law enforcement used a drone and a helicopter to search for Godfrey in a wooded area before finally locating him.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said they are assisting law enforcement in the investigation. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
