We all want to keep our homes safe from burglars, but locking doors and windows can only do so much. Now, security experts say we need to start thinking like crooks.

Experts say thinking like a burglar will better protect you from a burglar.

Experts say it's not just about security measures that could impact your risk, but geography and architecture also play role. The bottom line is, nowhere is 100 percent safe, so there are three main things to keep in mind. 

1. Reconsider that wall that you could climb or large bush. If you could climb it and hide behind it, it may be perfect for burglars.
2. Get to know your neighbors. They may be the one thing that gets in the way of a burglar breaking into your home.
3. Use simple security measures, like alarms, cameras and most of all locks.

Make sure you lock your doors and windows despite how safe you think your neighborhood is.
