Oklahoma center Akolda Manyang has been dismissed from the Sooners’ basketball team, an OU spokesman confirmed on Thursday. The dismissal comes a day after Manyang’s late-night arrest in Rochester, Minn.
The seven-footer and a friend allegedly assaulted a cab driver, stole his keys and chased him around a parking lot until he found safety in a hotel lobby according to the Post-Bulletin.
Manyang was already on an indefinite suspension for allegedly punching a former OU football player in the face on Campus Corner. Manyang was charged with felony assault and battery on May 4th.
He averaged 2.5 points and 2.1 rebounds as a reserve last season for the Sooners. Manyang missed part of OU’s Final Four run to be with his family after the death of his older brother, Ater.
