The death penalty phase in the trial against two men accused of killing four people including a woman featured on HBO's "Cathouse" began Thursday morning.

The judge read the death penalty instructions to the jury in the trial against Denny Phillips and Russell Hogshooter

Prosecutors told the jury about Phillips and Hogshooter's past criminal histories.

The jury was also shown a picture of one of the victim's unborn babies. Many family members became so upset, they had to leave the courtroom after seeing the photo.

Shortly after the lunch break ended, the judge announced a juror had been removed from the rest of the proceedings.

On June 13, Phillips and Hogshooter were found guilty in the 2009 killings of four people, two of whom were pregnant.

Several of the victims' friends and family members were in the courtroom, but said they were reserving comment on the trial until the end.

The courtroom was placed under high security with those sitting in the gallery not allowed to bring in bags. Everyone was checked with handheld metal detector before entering.
