Monday night's storms left behind serious destruction at a metro Oklahoma City apartment complex, displacing more than a dozen residents.

The thunder, lightning and the wind all part of the storm rolling through the metro overnight. And for people who live in the Esperanza Apartments off the Interstate 240 Service Road near Penn., it caused the roof to fly off.

Wood with exposed nails are scattered between two buildings. Shingles are on the sidewalks and they also damaged several cars.

The Office of Emergency Management said no one was injured but several people who live here are displaced.

One woman described running to get her sister-in-law out.

"You could barely see with the rain. You could hear those noises and stuff. We thought it was a small tornado or something. We were afraid," Lucero Rodriguez said.

Her sister-in-law was not hurt and stayed with her in another unit.

About eight to 12 units were damaged, and about 15 people were displaced.

The Red Cross has helped some residents who are now looking for another place to live because of the water damage left in many of the units. The apartment complex placed some residents in vacant units.
