The President of the Oklahoma City municipal workers’ union is behind bars, Wednesday, accused of multiple counts of felony and misdemeanor embezzlement.

William Bryles, 53, served as president of the American Federation of State and County Municipal Employees (AFSCME), when allegations of embezzlement first surfaced in April.

Witnesses said Bryles was stealing money from the city and other AFSCME members.

The allegations of embezzlement came from a separate investigation into sexual assaults made against Bryles by a former secretary. Investigators were tipped off to the alleged theft while conducting interviews during that investigation.

Bryles was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on four felony counts of Embezzlement and three misdemeanor counts of Embezzlement. He is currently being held without bond.
